The Maritime Institute of Gdynia Maritime University is a modern research unit combining science with practice. It carries out expert projects for companies, institutions and public administration bodies related to the maritime economy, cooperating with partners in Poland and abroad.

The Institute conducts innovative research in operational oceanography, ocean engineering, hydrotechnics and marine engineering, integrated coastal zone management, marine spatial planning, and coastal zone development.

Research Services

The Maritime Institute of Gdynia Maritime University is an undisputed leader on the Polish offshore market in environmental research and in preparing environmental, geophysical, geological and geotechnical documentation for offshore investments, particularly in relation to offshore energy.

This applies both to commercial projects and to support for public administration authorities in preparing and implementing formal standards and good practices in marine research.

Research Vessels

R/V IMOR

 

The floating marine laboratory - research vessel IMOR - is adapted for research in coastal zones and shallow lagoon waters.

Thanks to its excellent maneuverability, IMOR performs a wide range of tasks, from seabed surveys and oceanographic water-column and sea-surface studies to research on the ecological impact of various forms of human activity on the marine environment and biocenosis.

M/Y IMOROS 2

 

IMOROS 2 is a typical survey vessel designed and built to carry out hydrographic measurements in internal and open marine waters up to 5 nautical miles from the shore.

The vessel is prepared to perform independent measurements in marine waters, inland waters and rivers.
