LABORATORY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION

Our well-equipped laboratory and excellent specialists working with full responsibility enable the performance of physico-chemical analyses in the field of inorganic and organic chemistry as well as specific analyses of:

  • groundwater, surface water, and seawater;
  • urban and industrial wastewater;
  • soils;
  • seabed sediments and sludge;
  • waste materials.

We apply accredited methods to collect environmental samples of:

  • soils;
  • seawaters and sediment surface and core sediments in cooperation with the Department of Operational Oceanography;
  • wastewater;
  • surface water;
  • groundwater.

All tests (accredited and non-accredited) performed at the DEP Laboratory are covered by the Laboratory Management System. The list of all analyses covered by the PCA accreditation is included in the Accreditation Scope of the DEP Laboratory.
The Laboratory of the Department of Environment Protection systematically participates in international and national inter-laboratory comparative tests.
The comparative studies are organised by:

  • Wageningen University, Environmental Sciences (Netherlands) WEPAL – SETOC (port basin and riverbed sediments);
  • Aquacheck LGC Standards (water and soil analyses);
    CONTEST LGC Standards (soil analyses);
  • PROMEA (water, wastewater, and soil analyses, sampling);
  • the Kraków University of Technology, Department of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Chemical Technology and Engineering (water analyses);
  • Centre for Ecological Research PAS (natural waters);
  • Eurofins – Environmental Research and Control Centre;
  • ENVIRON (water and sediment sampling);
  • ERA, Soils & Hazardous Waste.
