INCONE60 Green

The Department of Economics and Law of the Maritime Institute at the Gdynia Maritime University is the leader of the INCONE60 Green project – Digital and green transition of small ports. The INCONE60 Green project, implemented under the Interreg South Baltic Programme 2021–2027 and cofinanced by the European Regional Development Fund, is being implemented with partners from four Baltic countries:

• Vordingborg Port (Denmark),
• Business Vordingborg A/S (Denmark),
• Klaipeda University (Lithuania),
• SUBMARINER Network for Blue Growth EEIG (Germany),
• Port of Władysławowo "Szkuner" Sp. z o.o. (Poland),
• Inero Software (Poland). 

In the South Baltic region, small seaports face a common challenge – they struggle with varying levels of development and struggle to adapt to the digital age. Unlike larger structures, small ports lack customised management systems, which limits their efficiency and competitiveness. The INCONE60 Green project aims to transform these challenges into opportunities, supporting their sustainable growth. Aligned with the European Union Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) and its Action Plan, the project focuses on key priority areas, including sustainable shipping, innovative technologies, and global competitiveness in innovation. 

The main outcomes of the INCONE60 Green project will be as follows:

1. SeaTech Port Management System – a tool tailored to the needs of small seaports, increasing efficiency, and reducing vessel turnaround times.
2. SeaWay Software – a system for estimating external costs, a key step towards internalising these costs and promoting environmentally friendly modes of transport.
3. SeaStat Database, an online repository of maritime statistics at the national, European, and global levels, helping to make informed decisions regarding port development and developing recommendations for local and regional strategies.
