Liquid Energy - Liquefied (bio-)gas as a driving force for development and use of green energy technology

The Environmental Protection Department, as part of the Interreg South Baltic Programme 2014–2020, is participating in another EU project entitled Liquid Energy – Liquefied (bio-)gas as a driving force for the development and use of green energy technology. The Maritime Institute of Gdynia Maritime University is the Lead Partner of the project.
Alternative fuels, as independent power sources, are gaining importance, even if this means increasing energy costs. These fuels also significantly contribute to improving environmental performance, such as reducing CO2 and pollutant emissions. A particular technical challenge related to the energy transition is the storage and distribution of large amounts of energy, for example, in the form of liquid biogas or natural gas. The Liquid Energy project addresses this specific technological issue by jointly developing solutions and creating a platform for the broader and more universal use of (bio)LNG in micro/nano form (e.g., in a decentralised energy supply system).
The project's primary goal is to contribute to solving technical challenges and popularising decentralised (regional) energy conversion while simultaneously leveraging local consumption, including in the transportation of alternative fuels. To achieve this goal, project activities are divided into work packages.
WP3, which focuses on creating a collaborative space necessary for interaction between key actors to accelerate the development and use of (bio-)LNG technologies, products, and services at the micro and nano scales.
WP4, which focuses on demonstrating the potential applications of (bio)LNG technologies to raise awareness of the added value of (bio)LNG-related technical solutions and to increase knowledge of their practical contribution to strengthening environmental sustainability and economic innovation in the South Baltic region.
Furthermore, collaboration between project partners from Poland, Germany, and Lithuania allows the pooling of existing resources and knowledge across borders, significantly contributing to unlocking business cooperation in the technological area focused on harnessing the potential of (bio)LNG as an alternative energy source.
