“SEAPLANSPACE” - Marine spatial planning instruments for sustainable marine governance

The Economics and Spatial Policy Department is pleased to announce that the Maritime Institute in Gdańsk is a partner in a new project approved under the fourth call for proposals for the Interreg South Baltic Programme 2014–2020:

SEAPLANSPACE – Marine spatial planning instruments for sustainable marine governance

This international project will be implemented in collaboration with partners from Poland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Lithuania. The project aims to strengthen the competencies of government employees, the private sector, students, and university graduates in the field of maritime spatial planning and sustainable marine management. The project's implementation is linked to the requirement for European Union Member States to develop and implement maritime spatial plans by 2021.

The project's objectives are to be achieved through the joint development of training programmes by the project partners, which will be implemented in five countries; the preparation of an English-language publication covering international aspects of maritime spatial planning; the preparation of bilingual publications on maritime spatial planning and sustainable maritime management from the perspective of the participating countries; and the conduct of workshops for approximately 300 participants from the participating countries. Furthermore, the launch and maintenance of an online portal aimed at exchanging experiences and knowledge in the field of maritime spatial planning.
